Marc Hairapetian is the SPIRIT, born like Francois Truffaut on February 6th - albeit in 1968 in Frankfurt/Main. Since 1984, he has been the editor of the film, theater, music, literature, and radio play magazine SPIRIT - A Smile in the Storm. He was the singer of the punk-pop band International Rebels (until 1987), completed his high school diploma and civil service in Hannover, and studied journalism/German studies at the FU Berlin. A cinephile and dog lover, he has contributed as a freelance journalist to publications such as Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Spiegel Online, Cinema, Die Welt, Berliner Zeitung, Filmdienst, and Tip. His interviews include Billy Wilder, Sophia Loren, Kim Novak, Alain Delon, Elia Kazan, Gregory Peck, Sir Peter Ustinov, Debbie Harry, Klaus Maria Brandauer, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Antje Weisgerber, Will Quadflieg, Christiane Kubrick, and Jan Harlan (Executive Producer of Stanley Kubrick). Since 1996, he has also pursued acting in film and television productions (NACHTGESTALTEN, TATORT: DER ZWEITE MANN, 36 STUNDEN ANGST). He participated as a risk quiz contestant on ZDF on the topic of "Stanley Kubrick" (December/January 2001/2002). Since October 2001, he has been the editor of the pocket magazine Classix - Music Forever. He is the co-author of "Oskar Werner - The Film Book" (ed. Raimund Fritz, 560 pages, hardcover, 369 b/w and color illustrations, Vienna 2002, ISBN 3-901932-19-4, Euro 24.90, orders to: Filmarchiv Austria, Telephone 0043 1 216 13 00, augarten@filmarchiv.at). He is the author of the forthcoming Oskar Werner biography Genie between Day and Dream. Favorite films: SHIP OF FOOLS, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, LORD JIM. He coordinated the online presence of SPIRIT - A Smile in the Storm, launched in February 2003 (www.hairapetian.de & www.spirit-fanzine.de). His life motto, to borrow from his Armenian compatriot William Saroyan, is "My heart is in the highlands" - and always with his daughter Laetitia-Ribana Orisina Siranoush, alias "Tietzel," born on September 16th, 1999.
